Healthwatch Herefordshire Receives Highly Commended Recognition at National Awards
This recognition is based on their impactful project investigating the experiences of annual health checks and COVID-19 vaccinations among this community.

Our Project - Learning disability annual health checks and Covid-19 vaccine experiences
In collaboration with Taurus Healthcare and WBC (Wargrave, Cantilupe, and Belmont), Healthwatch Herefordshire engaged with 40 individuals with learning disabilities, aged between 18 and 70, to gather insights into their healthcare experiences. The participants included both males and females, with living arrangements ranging from independent living to residing with carers or in group homes.
“The team are obviously chuffed but ultimately this award belongs to everyone in Herefordshire who got involved in our project to improve the experiences for people with learning disabilities when getting their health checks. We would also like to say a special thanks to the health checkers, Becky, Libby Bev & Eric who were helped with and starred in the videos”

Community Engagement
This project highlights the impact that community feedback can have on shaping healthcare services. By actively listening to the experiences of individuals with learning disabilities, Healthwatch Herefordshire has contributed to meaningful improvements in service delivery.
Commenting on the news, Louise Ansari, Chief Executive of Healthwatch England, said:
“Every year, we are consistently impressed by the quality of entries for our Impact Award, and this year is no different. However, this project really stood out because it shows exactly why listening to local people and acting on their views is key to helping unlock better health and social care services. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
